click these links.

I've been eating French toast for breakfast every morning this week. So, as I sit here and eat my breakfast, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite links from the week. Also, we're waiting for the birth of one of Silas' new cousins, so I've got to do something to distract myself from the anxious waiting! :)

This love story from my best bloggy buddy, Moriah, had me in tears. My favorite line-- "We've watched God call us to do things we never thought possible in order for us to be blessed beyond our own understanding."

I love this list of 50 closet must-haves for a fashionista from Chic Street Style.

This sweet little blog is written by Leslie, whose gorgeous three month old was born with a form of dwarfism. The words she writes for her daughter are awe-inspiring.

Aren't the colors in the Little Things Studios Etsy shop just gorgeous? I could click through her shop all day.

And finally, I'll end with this profound post by Kim. She wrote just the words and reminders I needed this week, as I was relying on my own energy to carry me through. Read it and be encouraged!

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

*sniffle sniffle cough cough*

I know I kind of disappeared on you a bit this week. Last Saturday, this nasty flu invaded, bringing with it a 102.7 temp and every symptom under the sun, and I haven't been able to shake it. Thankfully, I'm feeling a smidge better with each passing day, but it's been a pretty miserable week.

Three full boxes of tissues. That's how many I've gone through in the past five days. That's got to be a record or something.

Si and I have spent a lot of time in bed, watching every episode of Chopped on Huluplus, working on crawling (him, not me, though I could barely crawl out of bed on Sunday) and video chatting with Chris when possible. I love seeing Silas' face light up when he sees his Daddy playing peekaboo with him through the computer screen. Deployment homecomings filled me with glee before, but now I simply can't wait for these two to be reunited.

The little man has a small case of the sniffles now, and I'm praying it doesn't get any worse than that. I'm also praying he starts sleeping more than two hours at a time at night. Seriously, buddy, discover the glories of sleep already, won't ya?

a change of pace for the little things linkup.

I briefly mentioned in a few other posts that I feel called to live more intentionally this year. I want to put more effort into the things that matter - mainly relationships both online and off, as well as being intentional with how I spend my time. Sometimes this means working harder at something and sometimes it means cutting back.

Last month, I switched over to PassionFruit Ads, which is helping me to manage my sponsorships in a more efficient manner and frees up time to blog and work on online relationships.

And today, I'm calling an end to the Little Things link-up.

Sort of.

I began my Little Things posts three years ago, almost exactly. I started writing them because Chris was deployed and I needed a reminder that I had a lot of things to smile about during the week. It has helped my outlook on my days tremendously, both in tough times and good.

Last year, I decided to open up my Little Things posts and start a link-up party. I've been blessed by so many of you joining in with me almost every week and sharing the small things that made you smile. But some week I find myself feeling obligated to post a Little Things link-up each week, when honestly, my heart isn't in it. I love to share those little things with you, but I need to pare down a bit.

So, I won't be posting any more Little Things linkups. But I still plan on taking out my DSLR and documenting my own little things here on the blog and I hope you'll do the same on your blog.

I'm not simply canceling my Little Things link-up. I guess you could say I'm moving it to Instagram.

From now on, use the hashtag #soakupthelittlethings any day of the week to share the little things through your days that make you smile. Check out the other photos marked with this hashtag to find new friends and share in the joy. I'll be on there sharing my little things (you can find me under the username lindsay_hellohue!)

Alright, now I've got to go grab some breakfast and try to get my wound-up baby to nap. Have a great weekend, friends! See ya on Instagram!

my little valentine.

Hey friends! I'm not really a big Valentine's girl (this may have something to do with the fact that Chris and I have only been together for two out of our seven years together), but I can't resist a day when it's acceptable to wear pink tights and a red headband and eat candy all day.

This morning, Silas and I walked out to our family room and I saw a bouquet of bright orange daisies and sunflowers on the dining room table. I assumed they were for my mom from my dad, but I looked closer and saw a note with my name on it. Apparently Chris arranged with my parents to have a little bit of love waiting for me when I woke up. He hand-wrote a letter and scanned it in. My dad printed it off and left it on the table for me to find this morning. I love seeing my love's handwriting, especially when he writes such sweet words. He makes me feel so cherished, even from across the world.

I'll be spending my day with my little Valentine up there. He's been smothering me with sloppy kisses all morning, I think his dad must have hinted that he should be extra cute today or something.

Hope you have a wonderful day, whether you're celebrating with someone or not! I plan on treating myself to a pretzel roll at the Amish market. ;)

this morning.

Being back home in Maryland is doing my soul good. Even on the mornings when Silas and I are the only ones in the house, it feels far less lonely than our mornings in Florida.

Today we woke up slowly, played for a little bit and talked about Daddy and the adventures he's having in the Pacific.

While Silas napped, I made a french toast breakfast for myself and sipped coffee from a mug I threw in a college ceramics class.

Si played on my oldest sister's baby blanket and chased after toys that were in my childhood toy bin.

Later tonight, I'll hand Si off to my dad and at least have a chance to sit with a bowl of icecream without chasing after my so-close-to-crawling baby boy. Feeling thankful this week. And restful.

it's the little things: baby kisses and penguin sweaters

Some of my happy little things from this week:

baby kisses (really attack my face and eat my nose kisses) from Silas
tiny notebooks filled with lists, ideas and doodles
our new blanket from Stitched Simplicity came just in time for our trip! I love the fabrics I picked out!
I dug this penguin sweater out of his stash of clothes and it fits him perfectly. I want one in my size.

At the moment, I'm in a bit of a rush doing last minute packing. We're headed North to visit with family while Chris is away and all I can think about is a nap once we get there. Looking forward to having tons of family around to help with this little guy and that's no little thing at all.

What made you smile this week?

party rules.

1. Only link to your specific blog post, not to your blog's main page. See here for more explanation.

2. Grab a button and/or include a link back to this post so your readers can come see what the fun is all about! You can find the code for the button on the sidebar or on the "little things" page.

3. Make sure you visit (and comment) on other posts linked up-- what fun is a party if no one talks to each other? Make some new friends!

4.  Please make sure your post is relevant to this party and is actually a "little things" post (ie. no giveaways, random posts from last month, etc.).

what I've learned:: changing your business name

When I decided last year to change my business name, I really had no idea how it would go. I had established myself fairly well as "From the Aisle to Aloha" and I loved that name. It felt like 'me' and I couldn't imagine changing to something different. Thankfully, inspiration struck and the name 'Hello Hue' came to me. The changeover went seamlessly and now Hello Hue feels just as much my identity as 'Aisle to Aloha' did, perhaps even more so.

I've had emails and tweets from several of you asking about the process of changing over your business name. It's scary, and understandably so. We spend so much time building up our online identity and it's daunting to think about starting everything over again.

Here are a few things that I learned that may be helpful if you are considering your own big change.

Find a name that you love.

This might be obvious, but just because you have the urge to change things up, doesn't mean you have to rush into things. Take time to brainstorm what you want your brand to be all about. Find a name that reflects who you are and where you want to go.

In my case, I knew I wanted my name to reflect a brand that was welcoming, full of color, and fresh. I wanted something that could follow me anywhere when we moved locations (in a way that 'Aisle to Aloha' could not). And I wanted it to be short and sweet. From those parameters, I spent a few months brainstorming, bouncing ideas off of Chris and sitting on names once I thought of one I liked. Eventually, one day in the shower, the name Hello Hue came to me and it stuck.

Think longterm. Will this name stick or does it pigeonhole you?

Say it outloud. Does it sound good?

Google it. Did someone else get to it first? Is the domain name available?

Ask friends. Are there any weird associations? Does it feel like 'you' to them?

No need to start from scratch.

If you're worried that changing your business name means starting from scratch with your followers, traffic and customers, never fear. Most of the platforms you use make it simple to switch your name over.

Twitter and Instagram make it simple to change your username without any change in followers. Just check out the Settings pages.

Facebook's policies are that you may only change your username if your page has less than 200 likes. This means that I had to start over from scratch. It was a bit of a pain, but obviously, I had no other choice. I gave plenty of fair warning to my Aisle to Aloha facebook fans and most hopped over to the new page.

On Etsy, you may instantly change your shop name once. After that, shop name change will be up for review by Etsy. So, for me to change from Aisle to Aloha Studio, it was very simple. And that was the only thing that changed. I kept all of my favorites, sales and feedback.

So what about Blogger? Obviously, you can change your design to whatever you want. So, that's relatively simple. To change your URL, you'll need to go to Account Settings, and then Publishing. You can change the URL there (provided that it is not already taken).

In my case, was taken. Boo. But I took the opportunity to claim my own domain name ( You can do this under the same Publishing tab, it costs $10 per year and it redirects when anyone types in your old web address ( in my case).

(I don't know how Wordpress or other host sites work for changing your URL. If you do, chime in with a comment!)

You'll also (most likely) need to change your email address. You can create a new (free) email address on Gmail. I had my AisletoAloha emails forwarded to HelloHue email for the first few months and always replied with my new email. After a few months, I no longer had anyone emailing me at AisletoAloha, though I check it about once a month to doublecheck.

I will say, that some of my readers found that my feed disappeared from their Google Reader. I'm not 100% why, but with a quick re-subscription, it was fixed. So, make your readers aware of that.

Give fair warning

I began preparing my readers and followers for the change probably about a month out from when I made the switch. You can do this by offering sneak peeks of your new branding, giving countdowns to the switch and reminding Facebook fans that there will soon be a new page to 'like'.

I think this is one of the reasons that things went so seamlessly with my switcheroo. I talked up the changeover enough that people were excited to see what the new branding would be. There's got to be a balance, of course, and you don't want the switch to be the only thing you talk about.

You could also have a sidebar announcement on your blog, share your brainstorming sessions for new names, or even take a vote if you are stuck on ideas. Involve your readers and followers!

Have fun with re-branding!

Once you've got the perfect new name, have figured out the technicalities, and given the heads up to your readers, it's time to re-brand! You could potentially keep the same branding for the new name, but what's the fun in that?

Work with a designer on a professional new logo.

(I've enjoyed working with Oana, Leonora and Designer Blogs. I'd LOVE to work with Hey Sweet Pea or October Ink!)

Get a fresh blog look.

Order new business cards.

Rework your packaging to reflect the new brand.

Get a new headshot taken!

Even with all of these changes, I think it's still possible to maintain a consistency to your brand as a whole. When I switched from Aisle to Aloha, I still wanted to keep the same bright and cheery atmosphere (in my blog, shop, packaging, content, etc.) but with a fresh look. You don't have to completely disregard your old brand. Stay true to you!

So, that's how I went about the renaming of my brand. It's not as hard as you think, though I know it seems daunting now.

Got more questions? Ask away in the comments below. If I can't answer them, I bet there's someone else that can!

snag your Hello Hue Studio while you can!

Since Chris is floating in a boat on the other side of the world, Si and I decided to skip town and head North to visit fam. I may be crazy to trade in my 70 degree, no-cloud-in-the-sky days for blustery winter, but the thought of being able to hand off my baby for a Starbucks breather is too tempting.

So, the shop is going on hiatus for a little while.

Today (February 4th!) is the last day for you to purchase from Hello Hue Studio for a little while!

Eyeing something for a girl friend's birthday?

Hoping for some Hello Hue Studio in your Valentine's package?

Head over (or send your man over!) to the shop to snag your favorite handpainted necklace, mini canvas magnet or print!

Oh, and did you see the newest necklaces? Ikat inspired designs! My favorite is that gray one in the middle. ;)

Happy Monday!
