oh baby:: 30 weeks!!

My weddings rings came off this week. Actually, that makes it sound a lot easier than it was. It was quite an ordeal. They started to feel tight on Wednesday morning and began to be super painful. Long story short, we wanted to get them off before our plane trip and after an hour or so of using every trick on the web and many many tears from me, they were off. Chris worked at them patiently and as gently as he could, and I think it was hard for him to see me in such pain. I kind of hate that my hand feels so nekkid without my rings, so I think this week I'll go get a plain band to fill the space.

I've had so many comments from strangers this week telling me that I look like I'm "about to pop". One person declared loudly as I passed their dinner table "THAT'S due soon!" People can be so weird with what they let come out of their mouths. I kind of enjoy seeing their faces when I tell them I have 10 weeks left. Ha.

As Si grows bigger and bigger, I'm pretty much in a constant state of discomfort. I've been taking lots of warm baths and swimming in our hotel pool yesterday afternoon felt glorious. Despite the heartburn, itchy belly, difficulty breathing, etc. etc.... I'm so thankful. So many little things have happened this week that make me even more excited for Si's arrival.

Here are just a few::

We bought his crib! After seeing that it was out of stock online last week, I was a bit devastated. I checked again the other day and saw it was back in stock! Into the cart it went and we get to pick it up in the store in a few days! We also bought the most perfect dresser on Craigslist yesterday for his changing table. It's pretty exciting having all the main components of his nursery. Now we just get to fill in the blanks!

We toured our future apartment complex yesterday and fell in love with the cute apartments. We're going to have lots of space and I can't stop daydreaming about how to organize and decorate for this new home.

I have an appointment not only with the OBGYN practice that I wanted to get into, but also the midwife I was hoping to see! I feel such peace about it and love seeing evidence yet again that God has this whole thing in His Hands.

have a happy weekend, friends!

  3. You look so beautiful! I remember with my first child I kept buying things and getting the nursery ready but it felt like something was still missing every time I went in to his room. My husband finally figured out that the only thing missing was THE BABY ;o)

  4. Everything is coming together perfectly, Hun! I love his crib and that dresser is so awesome! Totally something he'll be able to grow up with. I love hearing that all of your doctor stuff is coming together, too. God is taking care of you guys! :)

  5. So glad to hear everything is coming together!

    People can be so RUDE! I'm not very patient with them, and I've been known to not be gracious and say something snarky back. If someone told me *I* was about to pop, I'd probably come back with, "I'm sorry, I'm not a balloon. You were saying?"

  9. Just stopping by to say that you look gorgeous! You are my pregnant lady style inspiration! At only 19 weeks- I have had the barrage of people asking me if A. I was having twins and B. If I had swallowed a watermelon. You gotta love the things people feel compelled to say out loud! Anyways, you look amazing and I am so happy things are going well for you guys! :)

  12. Lindsay,
    I just discovered your blog and am so happy about that. Congratulations on your soon-to-arrive baby boy. I have two little guys and, I know I'm based, but they are just the absolute best :) Of course, we would welcome a little girl with open arms too! :) Love the crib that you chose-- I have a round crib and absolutely love it, but if it ever breaks down on me, I'd buy your style of crib in a minute! I hope that you settle into your apt and have a few weeks to organize before your little one arrives. Both of my sweet boys arrived at twenty eight weeks and BOTH times we had just moved house! Crazy times, but crazy good times :)

  15. I would hate to have to take my wedding rings off. When Brian and I first got engaged, I would take it off all the time to "keep it safe", but then one day I just stopped taking it off. Now I hate taking it off (the only time I do is when I take a shower; I even wear it to bed/cooking/cleaning/etc) and feel so weird when I do, even sad. So I can't imagine actually being MARRIED and having to take it off!

    And that's such a cute dress! I saw one similar at Old Navy (it might even be the same one?) in blue, and I almost got it but no matter what size I tried on, the length wasn't right!

  17. comments regarding pregnancy: yep. apparently the rules are different for this and decorum does not apply ... {still don't know WHY that is!}

    mind-decorating: sooooo with ya there! been doing it myself for weeks!

  18. Lindsay, you look so amazing in that pink dress!!! And I love the combi with that orange belt, it's my favorite color combination at the moment (still hoping that my little one is a girl as I saw the cutest romper ever - in pink and orange!).

  19. Isn't it so great when one thing after another just falls into place?? I'm so happy for you - especially about the apartment and nursery stuff! It's so relieving and exciting when things come together and you can get a glimpse of what your life is going to look like months from now :)

  20. You sounds like me, I always organize a space in my head before even moving in. It's so exciting!

    And I'm so sorry it was such a pain getting your rings off =-/ But just remember it's all for that beautiful baby that you're going to have soon!

  22. WHERE is that dress from?! You look gorgeous! And I agree, some people just have no filter when it comes to saying what's on their mind. I just laugh it off :)

  23. Oh that crib is too cute! And short torso'ed girls (I'm not one of them) tend to look more pregnant, and my SIL was like you--kind of looked ready to go around 30 weeks or so and got a lot of the random comments. I still don't get why people think that's ok to do? But nevertheless--shockingly the belly can STILL grow although it feels like it can't. hang in there, lady--our time is coming soon! eek!

  24. Cute crib, and you look absolutely beautiful! Love seeing the white sands of the gulf beaches :-)
    I feel your pain with moving-we moved into our house in in June, and our son was born in August (10 years ago, but seems like yesterday).

    Hope you get settled quickly!

  26. Hi! I fell down the Internet rabbit hole today and found your blog. So glad I did! I am now a new reader after sifting through your archives and reading about your Hawaii experience. Congrats on your pregnancy, and I will be buying some art from you when your store is back up. You are very talented. Can't wait to read about your next chapter in Florida.

    All the best, V

  28. bless your heart! yes, some people have no filters on their mouths! I haven't commented much, but I do follow your blog and can't wait to see your new home and your sweet baby boy. Hang in there! Once he's here you will find it hard to remember your life before him. :o)

  29. I think you look beautiful!!! (coming from someone who's also prone to be big with her babies) But it is uncomfortable and difficult to get around. Hang in there. Get out when you can. When labor comes, your body will thank you...and be so relieved! Oh, and don't listen to the negative comments people make, they see a big belly and think it's an opportunity to open their mouths. Continue to be amazed at what your body is doing. Again, I think you look beautiful!

  33. You look adorable!!! As a fellow short lady, I also tend to get those kind of comments starting around 30 weeks due to my big 'ole bellies too. We have about 6 weeks left to go and people are shocked when I tell them! :)
    So glad you found a new practice that you're comfortable with!
